It was a lovely night.
Snow was falling slowly, and the ground sparkled under my feet. It was the end to an uneventful weekend, and was taking a normal trip to the grocery store, when everything changed. I saw them. Standing there, having quite the intensive stare down. They were speechless. They were furious. I was standing in the deli section…
“Do we have to do this here?? No! I won’t do this!”
“You don’t understand me anymore!”
….”You aren’t listening to a word I am saying!
“Why are you doing this?”
……”Wait a minute! Stop! No! Listen to me!“
I being an innocent bystander, was quite amused by this dramatic conversation between this couple who, standing in-front of the bread and deli meat, had completely forgotten where they were and decided to duke it out.
I continued to walk…the loud voices got quieter…
They turned the corner, silent treatment once again. (Can anything be any worse?)
Moments later I avoided eye contact as they started the heated talk once again…this time with more understanding, giving each other chances to finish their sentences. I couldn’t help but smile…for they were hand in hand by the end of the aisle.
There they were, leaving the store like nothing had ever happened, filling the night with laughter and love, life can be so simple at times.
Okay, so maybe I wasn’t a poor innocent bystander, maybe I was the one causing the drama. But hey, lets have some humor in it! And to those who so awkwardly witnessed such tragedy, my apologizes. 🙂
