Monthly Archives: May 2010

I made cupcakes, and they tasted good.

So today, it rained. Just a little…just enough. Its so green now, oh what a couple weeks can do! We’re nearing the end of may and gearing up for whats ahead. I can’t tell you how many times I texted my boy today, and made quick phone calls because there were so many little things that were “oh so important!” not really…but I just like the sound of his voice…and its been TWO WEEKS since we’ve seen each other. Now I know you don’t want to hear me ramble on and on about this, **awkward silence…**  so I”ll stop here.

Anyways, I decided to make cupcakes…massive ones. The problem I ran into, was that when you make massive cupcakes, they sink. like a soufflé. And the icing just kind of fell off because they started to topple over. Oops! But hey…they tasted pretty darn good!

I have this goal, to work out 3 times a week…and its been happening, except for the fact that I make a beeline for the ice cream (or in this case, giant cupcakes) either before or after. Its like my guilty pleasure made un-guilty. Like I’m justifying my act of rebellion against health food. Okay, so I don’t have rebellion…and its not everytime, but I laugh when it happens.

Yes I have deeper things I could talk about…but not tonight. Its just one of those nights.  Maybe we’ll touch on those later.

But for now…peace.

Sleepless in Skandia…

So there is this band called A Weather, they are playing through my speakers, and I’m appreciating their stories. If you’re in a “tired/give-me-tea/no, I’m not okay…but I’ll tell you that I am” mood, than they are perfect.

I feel like I haven’t slept in days, maybe because when I close my eyes, nothing happens for hours. And maybe thats why I’m so disconnected.

Tonight I decided I love my job, so why am I thinking about train tickets to Maine? One way tickets…

Summer time?

Well the semester is over, but that doesn’t mean the learning is! From classroom to practical application, this summer will be packed full of opportunities to serve and grow, and I’m so excited! We’ll be taking a trip to Tennessee (Insert pick up line here…Are you from Tennessee? Cause you’re the only Ten-I-See!!) in about two weeks, than Mountain of Praise and Cornerstone! The uprising fest is coming up quickly as well, do you know? well….you should… http://www.theuprisingfest.com. But is it summer yet?? I look out my window and I don’t see it. I see rain, cold, lots of wind.

I think its time for a new layout…this black is kinda dragging me down just a bit. Speaking of layouts, I’ll talk about the little decorating project my Iron River girls and I have been working on! The bathroom is painted (yes you heard me…painted!) and its almost finished. Got some material to hang up still, some floor paint to do…but its awesome! When all is said and done there will be posted pictures. The shower room is a burnt orange, and the rest is a deep green. It was supposed to be a deep teal, but swatches lie sometimes…no grudges held.

So remember that farm house I posted a while back? Well I’m still in love with it.  Seeing it in person makes it ten times better, and its got my name all over it. 40 beautiful acres of rolling hills and woods, a house that needs a little tlc, a windmill for decoration and apple trees everywhere! Only God knows what He has planned for the future, but if He puts a farm in there, I won’t complain!

The house here in Skandia is empty, its peaceful. There is nothing important to do until this evening, so a relaxed day it shall be. Wrote more last weekend, it was a joy.

Final thoughts for today…

God has been reminding me how dying to self and loving unconditionally works. 1st John 3:15-24, 4:7-21.  Is it hard? sometimes…but when the Lord is in it, somehow its a lot easier.

P.S.Last night I had a dream about dance. I woke up missing it more than ever. The stage, the lights, the freedom, the improvisation…maybe someday.

If I ever have children, Norah Jones can teach them the alphabet.

So cute. I have no other reason of posting this other than I just stumbled upon it…
